Jens Jensen The Living Green is about the life of a Danish immigrant whose landscape architecture career spanned nearly fifty years. Newly arrived in the United States in 1884, Jensen first worked as a Chicago park laborer; in 1905 he became the Superintendent and Landscape Architect of the city’s West Parks, promoting parks as a way to humanize the increasingly industrial city at a time of massive population growth.
