DEREGULARITIES

A message to membership from your Hawaii ASLA Executive Committee:

The article by Bradford McKee provides a good overview of the growing deregulatory climate across the USA and the forces behind it that should be of concern to all landscape architects. While currently there are no specific threats to licensure of landscape architects in the state of Hawaii it is important for our small LA community here to remain vigilant and proactive. Your ExCom will be discussing this issue and will keep you informed of any developments.

McKee’s closing sentence provides some wise advice: Any landscape architects who are not paying close attention and taking personal action now to make their case for distinction to their elected officials have a license that is theirs to lose.
